1/6/2001 - We all have several reasons to look for gaming sound options. Everything from the PC you bought not coming with speakers, to the sound in your TV being 'sub par' at best. The choices seem endless, from the most inexpensive speaker system, to high end computer sound systems, to complete home stereos. They all have their place, and so does Spectra Video's Sound Station.

The package comes with everything you need for use with your PC, Dreamcast, Nintendo, Playstation, or… who knows what else. The main power plant has separate volume and bass controls. It comes with a power unit (that has a bass speaker), two speakers, the power cord, and a variety of plugs to connect you to the various consoles. The power, speaker, and unit plugs are easily located in the front. The package was extremely easy to set up and comes with instructions that can help you hook your unit up.
The big question here is - how does it sound? This is definitely not a simple 'speaker' add on - this little unit has a lot of 'poop' and can make some real good sound. The sound quality is very good and the bass sound is very rich. It doesn't have that 'super thump' sound for those of you that have to have the big pounding and vibrating feed back that you get with sub woofers, but I can't emphasize enough that the bass sounds very good. And let's not forget the 'tweets', the system has pretty good high sounds as well.
When I first saw the size of the speakers, I thought that because the unit was affordably priced that most of the value was likely put in the power plant. But the speakers really hold their own - making this setup one that can easily go head-to-head with anything in it's price category. The competition better come ready to play, because these guys deliver the goods with this little unit.

RECOMMENDATIONS to the Vendor

- I would like to see the power and console/PC plug located in the back of the unit. The only need I may have for the convenience of quick access would be the speaker plugs - the others are likely plugged in once and left alone.
