12/15/2001 - The timing for us to receive this controller was perfect… the first Friday Night Xbox Festiva, and this controller comes in on that Friday afternoon. So, our inaugural test run with the controller experienced a plethora of games and different dudes playin' it.

First Impression |
It is smaller, lighter, and looks great. My first impression was a big thumbs up! |

None. As usual, I would like to see a game with the controller. |

Looks |
I can't over state how much I like the way this controller looks. If all of the Xbox gamepads are sitting in a pile, your eyes should automatically migrate to this one.
It's hard to describe the kind of 'wing looking' fins they put in the middle of the design, but and the neon green rubber grippies on the side look, help add to the good looks of this controller.
The Saitek logo illuminates in the dark, and is the 'cherry' on the top of this great looking desert.

Comfort |
This is the best feeling, and most comfortable controller I have tested so far. It's small size fits extremely well, and I think this is the most comfortable design Saitek has come out with so far. |

Construction |
This controller feels really solid. Saitek has raised their 'quality bar' to the next notch. |

Playability |
The buttons are in the same location as the stock unit, but it's compact size I found each of the controls easier to locate and use.
So far, the most difficult buttons to find (for me) have been those two tricky buttons right above the Y and B (white and black buttons)… but they are much easier to use on the Adrenalin.
As for the triggers, analog sticks, and directional pad - I found them all out standing.
The controller has rubber strips on the side of the gamepad that helped under 'sweaty' conditions.
The only real 'knock' I have on this controller is that it's feedback is the weakest I've experienced so far. With the target of having the controller compact, this might have been an area that had to suffer to 'meet the size'.

Value (price for what you get) |
A standard for Saitek is to have an affordable pad, but that can't be taken for granted. The controller has an excellent price, and simply holds it's own with any of the Xbox gamepads… at any price. |

Recommend to Others |
This is an excellent controller and I think it is better than the stock unit in every area except 'rumble' feedback. If the rumble feedback in these units is not a major consideration, buy it. If little kids will be playing with it - buy it. The compact size and ease of use makes this controller an excellent pick. |

RECOMMENDATIONS to the Vendor
LAZ I have two recommendations for Saitek.
-
Find a way to increase the feedback of the force.
-
Make this controller your new design standard for all of your gamepads. This statement isn't to say that your other designs aren't good, but the new design of the Adrenalin is outstanding and I would love to see this throughout your entire gamepad line.
