11/10/2000 - If you have been playing games for a long time, you can remember when joysticks were the only option and you didn't have wheels for your driving sims. Do you remember how cool it was when you drove your first sim with a wheel? The InterAct Fission Fishing controller is a specialty controller and does to fishing games what wheels do to driving sims... it makes the experience more real. After using it, there is no way I would want to play a fishing game without it... period.

First Impression |
Right off the bat, I could tell this was going to be a new gaming experience. Before I even plugged the controller in, I just had to grab a hold of the reel and spin it around to hear that 'reel sound'! |

Game(s) Included |
None. If you have read any of my reviews, you know I like to see games ship with controllers... especially when you are talking about a specialty controller. When games aren't included, I always like to say that it would be a good idea to find a one year old game and get together with the software vendor and make a nice package. It is even becoming common to see specialty controllers ship with new software items. |

Looks |
The controller is unique and there is nothing to really compare it too... except a fishing pole. InterAct has made a great attempt to make it look like a pole, and that isn't easy. Fishing poles don't really offer you a place to hide rumblers for feedback, let alone the other components necessary to make a controller. |

Comfort |
The grip is very comfortable and the unit fit my hands nicely. From the littlest kid in the house to the biggest, there were no complaints. |

|
Construction |
Very good construction and the quality is much higher than I expected based on the cost of the controller. The rating reflects how I feel about the quality. |

|
Playability |
The controller is a blast to play with! The reel makes a 'fishing reel' noise and operates similar. The controller has vibration that increases during the stressful time of reeling in the fish... providing a more realistic feel than if it did not include anything. |

Value (price for what you get) |
Considering what this controller does for fishing games AND the fair price, this controller is a very good value. |

Recommend to Others |
If you have at least one fishing game, this is a must have addition to your gaming collection. If you don't have a fishing game, this controller could easily be reason enough to go get one. |

Varying resistance in the reel would be a nice feedback feature.
