LAZ 4/14/2002  - Do you have more than one computer? If you do, you should be very interested in this product. If you don't know what a KVM switch is, I will explain first: KVM stands for Keyboard/Video/Mouse and a switch box allows you to have multiple computers share a single Keyboard/Video/Mouse.

If your like me and you spent a lot of money on a 21 inch monitor, you don't want to go to one of your other machines and have to suffer looking at a smaller monitor - that alone is reason enough to want a KVM switch... let alone needing multiple keyboards or mice.

Details INSTALLATION
The unit comes with a paper manual that has detailed pictures, allowing you to easily connect all the right wires in the right spots. It took me longer to run my wires than to connect anything. The SOHO came with audio/microphone connectors, so I made sure to get the wires to share my sound and microphone (so this could be called a KVMSM unit).

USING IT
The unit can easily sit right beside your monitor and doesn't look offensive. All of the wires tuck nicely into the unit and run out the back. You can either push one of the four buttons, or use a 'Scroll Lock / Arrow' combo from the keyboard to switch between your computers (up to four). That's about it. There is nothing more that I want it to do, just safely get me from one computer to another without having to move or look at another monitor.

I can't explain how great it is that you can share the same sound and microphone. This is an option that most KVM people should want to consider upgrading for. I have a nice 5 speaker surround sound, and I like being able to take advantage of it on all of my computers. I also run Microsoft's Game Voice for my microphone, and the whole setup works great together.

Prior to this unit, I was running a HIGH dollar KVM that was only a couple of years old - but could only run up to 1024 resolution. This unit allows a whopping 2048x1536 - meaning that I can run video games through it and they still look great!

VALUE
One of the high lights of this unit, is that it is affordable. The next time you buy a PC, you won't have to buy a monitor - invest in this KVM instead. You will be hard pressed to find another KVM with these features and a Five Year Warranty.
